CBS Will Show NCAA Men’s Final Four in 3D

LG Electronics, CBS Sports and Cinedigm Digital Cinemas have teamed to offer the culmination of March Madness in 3D at select theaters.

Are you ready for 3D Madness?

Following the footsteps of previous championships and whetting our appetites for the kickoff of ESPN's 3D channel, LG Electronics, CBS Sports and Cinedigm Digital Theaters have teamed up to bring us this year's NCAA Men's Final Four in 3D.

No, you can't watch it in the comforts of your own 3D home entertainment system, but you can check on Cinedigm's Web site to see if one of the roughly 100 3D theaters is in your area.

There are no ticket prices listed yet (you can sign up to receive info when it's available), but we do know the coverage will be on Saturday, April 3 from roughly 3 to 11 p.m. for the Final Four, followed on Monday, April 5 with the 9 p.m. tipoff of the title game, all from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

"The theater experience is changing dramatically," said Bud Mayo, chairman and CEO of Cinedigm. "The Men's Final Four is a signature event, with millions of fans clamoring to be among the few who get to see it in person. Cinedigm's experience, having brought the 2009 BCS Championship and the 2009 NBA All-Star Saturday Night events to theatres in live 3-D, has shown us that fans who attend will feel as though they have courtside seats. We're proud to work with our technology partner SENSIO and with our growing national network of top-quality theater to help bring fans one step closer to courtside."

CBS Sports and LG will be working with 3D expert Vince Pace, who was involved in the production of Avatar, for the basketball broadcasts. One thing missing will be the dulcet tones of Jim Nantz and Clark Kellogg, though, as it'll be fed with CBS College Sports Network announcers Dave Ryan and Steve Lappas - of course we'll be more tuned into the video than the audio.

Even more reason to keep up with the culmination of March Madness if you're office pool bracket has gone up in smoke or if another team like North Carolina starts stomping over its competition. It'll still look sweet.

InFocus Announces Commercial LCD Displays

InFocus announced yesterday their entry into the LCD flat panel display market with three new cost-effective LCDs for light commercial use, such as video conferencing, web meetings, demonstrations, training, and presentations.

Available in 42”, 55” and 65” sizes, the displays are for “budget-conscious” professionals that need features and reliability that can’t be found in consumer displays. The displays are native 1080p and handle computer resolutions up to WUXGA (1900x1200). They also offer a Dynamic SplitScreen feature that allows simultaneous display of two full-size images or video sources. Connectivity includes HDMI, VGA, S-Video, composite video, component video, audio, and RS232. The displays also have speakers.
